By now you’ve probably seen the big news from Atlassian: in line with their Cloud-first strategy, Atlassian Data Center products will officially reach End of Life (EOL) on March 28, 2029.
You can read Atlassian’s full announcement here, but let’s break it down, especially from a Marketplace App user’s perspective, and outline how we at STAGIL are getting ready to support you every step of the way.
Atlassian has set a clear timeline. Here are the milestones that matter most:
March 26, 2026 → No new Marketplace apps for Data Center to be released. Also, from this date, only pre-existing Data Center customers can buy add-ons for their Data Center instances. Data Center instances without addons are still available to purchase.
March 2028 → No new purchases of Data Center licenses or DC marketplace apps, and no more upgrades or renewals.
March 28, 2029 → Data Center products go into read-only mode. That’s the final deadline to migrate to Atlassian Cloud.
Why this matters: After March 2029, if you’re still running Data Center at that point, you won’t be able to add, extend, or actively manage your apps - or any of your data — so planning your migration path is critical.
While EOL dates always sound intimidating, the move to Cloud opens up significant new opportunities:
AI-powered productivity: Access to tools like Rovo and enterprise-grade AI features of the Atlassian Cloud platform that simply won’t exist on Data Center.
Teamwork Graph: A smarter way to break down silos and connect work across teams.
Enterprise flexibility: Expanded data residency and compliance options for regulated industries.
Migration support: Programs like FastShift designed to streamline your journey.
In other words, Cloud isn’t just “the new home” for Atlassian products — it’s where the innovation is happening.
At STAGIL, we are responsible in making sure your apps continue to deliver value before, during, and after this transition. Here’s how we’re doing it:
Security and Maintenance → We’ll maintain our Data Center apps with full updates right up until March 2029.
Cloud-Ready Apps → Many of our apps are already optimized for Atlassian Cloud. Several already run on the Forge platform, Atlassian’s new developer platform, ensuring enhanced security and scalability.
Migration Tools → Where apps exist on both platforms, we provide migration tooling to make the move smoother.
Clear Guidance → Resources to help you understand how functionality differs between Data Center and Cloud.
Expert Support → While we don’t run migrations ourselves, we can connect you with trusted specialists who do. See our partner network
